Local. Seasonal. Sustainable.

About

Offering beautiful bundles of unusual, hard to find & heirloom flowers
in an organic & loose cottage garden style.

Bluet Farms is a family owned boutique flower farm & nursery growing unusual florals & heirloom botanicals as cut flowers, plant starts & full size specimens using organic, sustainable practices in the beautiful, lush Pacific Northwest. We source rare, unique, and hard to find varieties from the best heirloom seed houses around the world then grow them locally. This allows us to grow and share hard to find and heirloom flowers that are on the verge of being lost to the world, giving you unique florals for your special day or event.

We believe that beauty and kindness can make the world a better place. We strive each day to spread both with our blooms and our actions. By growing and sharing flowers, we’re also spreading sunshine for the soul.

As an urban flower farm & nursery located in Burien, WA, we also believe in the doctrine of the slow flower movement - that local is better for the community and the environment. We strive to bring the loveliest blooms to local florists, event planners, DIY brides and our community while remaining true to our values of beauty, kindness, community and sustainability.

Hi, I'm Tracie, flower farmer
& mixed media artist.

I'm the farmer at the heart of Bluet Farms.
For over ten years I've dreamed of having a career in plants & gardening, but I never knew what that looked like. Then in early 2019 a corporate team builder told me the answer. A few months later I read a random blog about flower farming, and down the rabbit hole I went. 2020 is the year I started living my dreams.

My support team is my husband Brett and our dog Ace. Brett provides continual encouragement and heavy lifting. Ace is always happy to share a sunbeam.

"Flowers can't solve all problems, but they're a great place to start."

What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles, to be sure; but scattered along life's pathway, the good they do is inconceivable.
- Joseph Addison

At Bluet Farms, we believe that beauty and kindness can make the world a better place. We strive each day to spread both with our blooms and our actions.

Even if you can't do much, do something.

My life philosophy; found when I literally couldn't do much beyond sit in my studio or garden for a few moments at a time.

Now, even on my worst days, I still do something for myself, my art & my flowers. On those days it may simply be sitting quietly and being.

That’s still something.

Nature as inspiration.

My art explores time, decay & deterioration of people & things. Along with the pain and emotions, as well as the beauty around & (hopefully) the eventual acceptance of them. Depending on the day, I may see my art and myself in very different lights. It is my hope that people will take from my art whatever they need in that moment.

Where is decay & deterioration more evident than in nature? Working primarily with acrylic paint, I'm a printmaker & mixed media collage artist.

My botanical monprints are hand pulled from a gel plate. They are created with numerous layers of color using real botanical material or paper cuts of reproductions of vintage botanical images.

My collages are often built from hand printed monotypes and hand decorated papers. At times vintage papers and book pages are used. Paper cuts are cut from reproductions of vintage images using a scalpel or xacto knife.
